We awoke to lashing rain on the Saturday morning and thanked our stars that the wedding was done. Every day after Friday was a bonus and with everyone on such a high a little rain couldn’t dampen spirits.
Between showers we took Emily on a roundabout tour of the property in search of chickens and pigs. We found both but they were behind a locked gate so we admired them from afar (she was more interested in the tractor in all honesty anyway!).
The guests from the various hotels and bed and breakfast began to trickle in and games of croquet were soon underway. Croquet is WAY harder and WAY dirtier than you would expect. My brothers were vicious! It was fun, and rainy and highly competitive.
Lola Bear at lunch with Monica.
Me and Ace Venture, Pet Detective. I love him so, silly shirts and all.
Actually I especially love the silly shirts.
On Sunday, between packing up and loading the cars to leave, we wandered around Ballyvolane and I took lots of photographs.
I’d heard rumours of the walled garden but hadn’t had a chance to check it out yet. It was beautiful, full of flowers and fruits and vegetables.
(Aside: I don’t know how I lucked out with this guy. I can barely look at this photo, he’s just so handsome!)
We packed up the flowers, loaded the bags into the car and hit the road. Rich and I spent three hours driving back home together listening to music and chatting. It was a perfect way to cap off a pretty perfect weekend. I think I could get used to this wedding stuff.
